Our Classes

Lake Rerewhakaaitu School is a modern, 21st Century learning environment where many flexible learning opportunities are provided for students.

We have low student-teacher ratios in all our classes for 2019. Due to our smaller school roll and staff we have returned to single-teacher classrooms with two year-levels in each class.

Our senior students learn in digital classrooms, with one-to-one digital devices and online google classrooms.

Outside the classroom our students regularly engage with the local environment and community members, to experience a range of recreational, cultural and physical activities, including water activities at Lake Rerewhakaaitu, beach and bush camping, cross-country events, lamb and calf day, pony club and trail bike riding. Our students participate in a range of sporting teams and events, including soccer, rugby, netball, basketball and athletic sports.

Highlights for staff and students at our school are the "Maker-spaces" programme which allows students to work on self-selected learning projects, and our major school production which is produced once every two years. Our next production will be performed in 2020.
